Senior News


Congratulations!!

You have made it to your senior year!!! This year will bring many changes in your life. You will be investigating and making plans. I am here to help you. Your senior assistant principal, Kathy Miller, is also here to help you.



Make sure and write the college for an application and have your SAT/ACT scores mailed to the college. Check the internet; many colleges have online applications. Fill out the application neatly and completely. Type or print using black ink. If the application requires a counselor or teacher recommendation:
a. make a list of all your extracurricular activities and your contribution in each
b. contact the person and ask them to write the recommendation and then ask them to give it to you in a sealed envelope or send it directly to the college.
c. Make sure you send the appropriate fee and request a copy of your transcript from the registrar.

**Texas now has a Common Application for public universities and colleges. You may apply at www.applytexas.org.

College Board Online

College Board Online (http://www.collegeboard.com) introduces several new features for students. These include a simplified navigation system, vital financial aid information and the ability to register/prepare for the SAT. Check it out!!!

The www.collegefortexas.com web is a project of the Texas Higher Education Coordination Board. The site is free and has easy to follow information. Things like: how do you get ready for college, how do you choose a college, how do you pay for college, and what do you do after you get there.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarship opportunities will be posted on the board outside the counseling office and you should also listen to the morning announcements.

REMEMBER
Academics come first—be sure to keep your grades up your senior year. Colleges are very interested in how you do your senior year, even after ranking has been completed.
