Welcome to the Business and Technology Department. My name is Karen Hill and I will be teaching BCIS and Desktop Publishing.
BCIS is a year-long course in which students will be taught applications in the Microsoft Office 2007 Suite. They will work with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher. They will also study Windows, HTML, and career development. The students learn skills and will apply them creating their own presentations and career reports. They will also learn how to create and develop spreadsheets and create database files.
Desktop publishing is a one-semester course that provides skill development in the electronic procedures of producing and editing print publications. Using Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Publisher, students will create, format, illustrate, design, edit/revise, and print publications. Creating and designing newsletters, flyers, brochures, reports, advertising materials, and other publications are emphasized. Proofreading, document composition, and professional written communication skills are also included.
