Reading Opens Doors
Laura Martin
Hello,

Welcome back for an exciting 2008-2009 year at Montgomery High School. I'm looking forward to having another wonderful year teaching English II and Practical Reading/Writing. Also, I am one of the monitoring teachers for GIST (General Intervention Support Team).

On a personal note, let me introduce myself. This will be my 17th year as an English teacher, and I have loved every year. I'm certified to teach English, Reading, and Basic Business. Also, I've an endorsement in ESL, English as a Second Language. At a previous campus, I was the English TAKS coordinator and dyslexic teacher. With my experience and compassion for my students, I know I will be able to meet the needs of my students. At the end of year, I want them to have the skills necessary to achieve academic success. Not only am I a teacher, but I'm a parent, so I understand how much you care about the well-being and academic success of your child.

I have two beautiful daughters, Breanna (8 years old)and Isabella (2 years old). Since I'm a mom, I want the best for my children, too, so I will always treat your child with respect while I hold him/her to high expectations. Although I have very high expectations for my students, I know if we work together, we will achieve our goals.

Again, I look forward to having your son or daughter this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Laura Martin
