Hello,
We are going to have a wonderful year in English II/ Practical Reading and Writing, and I'm especially excited to have a co-teacher, Mrs. Ginger Gonzalez, for my English II classes. We will work very hard covering several pieces of literature, write on numerous topics, review grammar and mechanic skills, analyze and recognize literary elements, and study SAT Vocabulary.
I currently teach English II and Practical Reading/Writing. Also, I am one of the monitoring teachers for GIST (General Intervention Support Team).
On a personal note, let me introduce myself. This will be my 18th year as an English teacher, and I have loved every year. I'm certified to teach English, Reading, and Basic Business. Also, I've an endorsement in ESL, English as a Second Language. At a previous campus, I was the English TAKS coordinator and dyslexic teacher. With my experience and compassion for my students, I know I will be able to meet the needs of my students. At the end of year, I want them to have the skills necessary to achieve academic success. Not only am I a teacher, but I'm a parent, so I understand how much you care about the well-being and academic success of your child.
I have two beautiful daughters, Breanna (9 years old)and Isabella (3 years old). Since I'm a mom, I want the best for my children, too, so I will always treat your child with respect while I hold him/her to high expectations. Although I have very high expectations for my students, I know if we work together, we will achieve our goals.
Again, I look forward to having your son or daughter this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Laura Martin
