Montgomery H.S. Golf History
1985-2008


The Lady Bear Purple and Gold Golf Teams finsihed their 2007-2008 year with 2nd and 4th place finishes at the UIL State 4A Championships. Lisa McCloskey successfully defended her Individual title with rounds of 68-70 (6 under par) to win by 9 strokes over Shannon Jungman from Pfluggerville Hendrikson.
The first State State Championship in the history of Montgomery High School was won in the spring of 1996 by the Bear Golf Team. This team was the last to participate in Class AAA UIL competition. Team members were Wes Forester, Eric Walton, Doug DeGeorge, David Harris and Derek Lamely.
The 2001 Lady Bear Golf Team won the first ever State Championship for a Montgomery High School Lady Bear Team. Those team members were Mallorie Underwood, Lauren Dodge, Lauren Barbir, Paige Burrer and Sherry Summers. Their “sudden death “ victory over Andrews High School would be the beginning of a run of CHAMPIONSHIPS that would break the UIL Record for most consecutives titles won in a row in Class 4A set by the Andrews teams from the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.
The Bear Varsity Team finsished the 2007-2008 year with a 2nd place finish at District and a 7th place finish at the Region III Tournament.

The BEAR and LADY BEAR TEAMS for the 2008-2009 school year will certainly face their share of memorable moments. Relationships will be nurtured and built by all while lasting friendships and respect will be gained from facing adversity, embracing it and then defeating it.

I know each and every one will give their very best to continue the TRADITION of EXCELLENCE set by all of the teams from the past. CHERISH the MOMENTS that come with a new year.

• 7 Consecutive UIL Class 4A State Championships (UIL RECORD)
• 16 Division I,II,III or NAIA Collegiate Players (Signed/Played since 1997)
• 1 Individual Class 4A State Champion, Lisa McCloskey 2007-2008 and Class of 2008 Signed to play at Pepperdine University fall 2008,
