MARKETING EDUCATION CAREER PREPARATION AND MARKETING YOURSELF
SANDY NIKIRK is a MASTER TEACHER with 23 years of classroom experience, 13 of those years in School-To-Career Courses.

Block 7 Marketing Yourself (second semester)

MARKETING DYNAMICS is a first year cooperative school-to-career program designed to teach students entry-level job skills, MARKETING, and give them on-the-job Marketing experience.

MARKETING MANAGEMENT is the second year extension of MARKETING DYNAMICS. Marketing Management teaches students higher-level job skills and management skills. Students should be ready for accelerated on-the-job duties.

The TEACHER/COORDINATOR teaches students employment and life skills in the classroom one block per day. In the afternoon the students go to their job. Students must work at least 15 hours per week, with at least 10 of those hours worked between Monday and Friday.

The Coordinator will:
*visit the job site on a regular
basis
*have the employers evaluate
student job performance
*intervene if problems or
concerns arise
*grade students on their
classroom assignments
*grade students on special
projects
*grade students based on job
performance and employer
evaluations
*Grade students on participation in the classroom, on-the-job, and at school-related events.

DECA
DECA is a student organization which teaches students Leadership, Parliamentary Procedures, and Citizenship.

DECA STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO JOIN DECA. Currently the dues are $30.00 per year, payable by September 30.

Our DECA Chapter will encourage all students to participate in DECA competitions, such as:

JOB INTERVIEW
OTHERS...



From time-to-time members of the DECA Club will go to competitions out of town. On these trips students will always be well chaperoned and overseen by the Chapter Advisor (teacher)and possibly other adults, depending on the number of students attending.
MARKETING YOURSELF
MARKETING YOURSELF is a one-semester course, generally offered to ninth grade students.

In the MARKETING YOURSELF CLASSES Students will learn:

*entry-level job skills

*terms used for courses in the high school course catalogue

*a general overview of courses offered at MISD

*how to select classes to follow a sequence of the students career interests

ADDITIONALLY, students will learn their learning style types and investigate their attitudes, aptitudes, and abilities. THE STUDENT WILL RELATE THIS KNOWLEDGE TO CAREER AREAS THAT THEY WOULD BE PARTICULARLY GOOD AT, BASED ON THESE FINDINGS.
