INTRODUCTION
BCIS I is a one-year/one-credit INTRODUCTORY computer application course offered for students in grades 9-12. By enrolling in BCIS I, you will obtain a variety of "marketable" skills used in the business world.
During this term, students will develop proficiency skills in the following applications:
*Windows XP(Operating System) *Macromedia Dreamweaver
*MS Word (Word Processing) *MS Outlook
*MS Excel (Spreadsheet and Charts) *MS Publisher
*MS Access (Database) *Internet Explorer (Internet/Telecommunications)
*MS PowerPoint (Graphic Presentation)
EVALUATION - A variety of methods will be used to evaluate your knowledge of the computer, which include:
• Assignments (daily grade) 30%
• Objective/skills performance tests (major grade) 70%
• Projects (major grade) 70%
MAKE UP WORK - If you are absent, it is necessary to attend a make-up lab in order to complete the work assigned. Make-up lab hours will be Monday-Friday from 6:45-7:15 a.m. and after school from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Make up times must be scheduled with your instructor.
COMPUTER LAB RULES AND REGULATIONS - Any malicious attempt to harm or destroy equipment, materials, or data is prohibited. All rules and regulations in the District Policy and student handbook will be strictly enforced in the computer labs.
The Internet will be used for classroom purpose only.
Non-authorized students are not permitted in the lab.
Unauthorized duplication or use of licensed software is not permitted on the computers in the lab.
Game playing is not allowed during class time.
Candy, gum, food, and drinks are not allowed in the lab.
No e-mail, no instant messaging, no blogging, no chatting
No personal grooming activities will be allowed at computer stations.
The student is responsible for any work missed due to absences. A grade of zero will be given any assignment not made up.
Forgery or attempted forgery of work is prohibited. Attempts to read, delete, copy or modify work of another student will be punished according to the student handbook.
Students will leave their computer station daily with “desktop” displayed on monitor and textbook closed and placed on stand.
Absolutely no materials should leave the classroom without written permission from the teacher
Each time I enter the computer lab, I will inspect my system for the following:
Mouse is intact
Keyboard with keys in correct positions
Overall appearance of system
Speakers
Desktop Wallpaper
If the above items are missing or damaged in any way, I will report this to the teacher immediately at the beginning of the period. By reporting, I will not be held accountable for the expense of the items.
